It's Never Too late

I am having a problem with my violin lessons. My timing is terrible. If I know the melody, I can pretty much get the timing right. But mostly, the music that I am assigned, I don't know. When I play a duet with my patient teacher, I finish first. I think the idea is to finish together. I'm working on it.  My next weeks assignment is Hatikvah. She says that I had better get this one right. I will. Every time that I practice it, I just get this vision of me playing it in Israel. Wouldn't that be just so cool.

On one of my trips to Israel, I watched a small group of street musicians play classical music. Watching with me was a young soldier. We spoke about the music and I learned that he was an American who came to serve in the Army.  So young and so committed.

Timing is everything , in music and in life and for me it is never too late to get the timing right.
