It happened again today, Shabbat. I saw a rainbow. How perfect is that.I had already said a Shema, but I figured that it never hurts to say it again. So I did. Then I thanked God for letting me see this, what I consider a sign from God. Then I did what I do, I asked for a blessing for two particular members of my family.

Then my mind went into the gimme mode that I am so quick to do. I wonder if this is because I used to ask my daddy, every time he came home from work, "what did you bring me".(He managed a shoe store, so it could have been an empty shoe box. I would put rubber bands around the opened box and make an instrument out of it.)

I recovered my priorities and then just enjoyed looking at the colors of the gift that I was seeing. While I was seeing, I agreed with myself to be more giving of me,I would be the small gift that when someone even thought "what did you bring me"  the gift will be an act of kindness from  me. I will bring the gift of being attentive, the gift of listening, the gift of being present. It's never too late to just be nice to someone.
