ON THE BACK BURNER

I have a plastic bag of basil sitting on my deck. I figure that there must be 20 lbs of basil in the bag. I will start making pesto  and see how much I can make before I run out of baggies that I plan to freeze it in.  To facilitate the process, I just use olive oil and basil for the storage .Then when I need it , I add the rest of the ingredients. Right now, I just want to save all of that fresh basil. About a month ago , I made basil salt, which I store in the fridge . It is really really good. Especially on all of these heirloom tomatoes that I have been feasting on. I love getting all of this produce from my grandson. Now I wish he worked on a cattle farm. Think of what he could bring home then.

Don't quite know how this got to me but it was on the top line of my computer (not in email) But I really enjoyed it. I truly admire you.
