ON THE BACK BURNER

It didn't rain today. The rain yesterday was so harsh that a natural food store, just on the other side of the lagoon where I walk Dixie, flooded and some streets were closed to traffic because of the flooding. Even the natives are getting restless with all of this rain and cold temperatures. Just to help me feel that there might be a summer this year, I vacuum packed a lot of my winter clothes and put them away. I am taking a leap of faith about the weather. Now that it wasn't raining .I am getting close to finishing planting. Today I planted scallions, basil and more tomatoes. There are way too many tomato plants, but I have them and maybe I will get a bumper crop. My peas look great and the greens look like the cover picture on a seed pack. I don't think that I can eat as many greens as I have planted, so I am looking for a lettuce soup recipe. I hear that such a recipe exists.
