ON THE BACK BURNER

My daughter and I have different thought processes. I note this because, here at Estes Park, she did something that I never would have thought about. Or if I did think of something similar, like a hurricane, it would be different. When we got  here, she re- parked  the car so that it was facing away from the house, like we were leaving, instead of having it hood toward the house, like we were coming . Then she took my wallet and her wallet and locked them in the car. Thirdly, she took the car keys and put them in her jacket, which she made a point of showing me where it was hung next to the door. Why did she do these things. Because she lives in an area  of Colorado that is under extreme fire alert. She is ready to evacuate in 60 seconds. Car -ready, wallet - ready, keys and jacket - ready. She knows where everything is and she can safely leave . Even in a threat of a hurricane, I have not made such a evacuation plan. I buy a couple of bottles of water. Get in some can goods. See where my can opener is and make sure I have enough dog food. The last hurricane we had, I decided to stay , even though my family put great pressure on me to leave. I should take a lesson from my daughter. She is pro active, but not an alarmist. You can always learn from a child.
