ON THE BACK BURNER

There is this old song that I know . As a matter of fact, I know a lot of old songs. We sang a lot when I was growing up and the Sunday  paper had the words written out for the popular songs. One of the songs had a line that said  that if you weren't with the one that you loved, you loved the one that you were with. That line came to me today when I went with my Grandson to get a Chicago style Italian beef sandwich. There is no comparison to the Italian beef in Chicago, or even the one that I get in Venice, but paraphrasing the song , I loved the Italian beef  that I was eating . With a Coke. With lots of ice. There are some foods that I will not order . Creole. I know Creole. It is not authentic anywhere but in New Orleans . And never blackened food. Originally , before refrigeration, when the food would spoil, it was blackened to hid the rancid taste. So no blackened food for me, even though I know the food isn't rancid. Just one of those crazy ideas in my head. Like, I love raw oysters, but won't eat snails. Back to Italian beef.... my sandwich was pretty close to almost. And it's closer in distance than Chicago. Go Bulls.
