ON THE BACK BURNER

I moved 3 wheel barrows full of horse  manure and have 2 more to go. My biggest concern was slipping into the manure. It was under a tarp, but some snow had managed to get in and there were some slippery moments when I felt unbalanced. I called it quits after the 3 loads. The wind , according to the weather report was gusting at 30 miles an hour. Between the wind and the manure, I felt justified in stopping. It was the kind of day that made you just want to sit on the couch and not go anywhere. I have to thank Dixie for not letting me do that. Left to me, my lap top and a book case full of cook books is as good an excuse as any,not to move. That just doesn't happen with a dog. People often say that they won't get a dog because they want to be free to travel. Usually, they never travel. They just don't want to have to get up and walk a dog , in the dark, really early in the morning, really late at night, sometimes during the night, in the rain, in the heat,in the wind,in the snow, and when they just don't feel like it. So thanks Dixie for making me do all of these things. It keeps me strong.
