My new dog sitter is a lovely woman who was born and educated in Russia . She was dismayed when I said that my mother , who so wanted ro be American, never spoke Russian to us. So she is trying to teach me a few words. So
far, I mangle "good by". She is going to write it out for me so I can practice. She speaks at least 4 languages and I have trouble with one. I took Spanish in high school because we had to have a foreign language to graduate. I figured that it was the easiest
one to learn. Luckily, in college
, they changed the requirements about a foreign language and I didn't have to take one. I'm moderately OK with reading Hebrew, but mostly, I only know how to read. Coming from
N.O. I should know some French, but sadly, I don't. My dog sitter, says we are lazy about learning new languages and she might be right. I think I will start by learning the metric system.I am watching the Great British Baking show series and I can't convert
when they talk in grams and celsius . This is really a very lazy excuse.
