ON THE BACK BURNER

This problem with the robin's is really serious. At first, we were just amazed that they were working so hard at getting  worms from my garden. We woke up to my organic soil dug 3 or 4 inches down, holes everywhere, a mess. I had to get a shovel and replant a number of plants, a rake to smooth the dirt around and a broom to clean up the dirt that made it to the pavers. These birds are wired and on something. I sat on my deck at twilight and the birds just kept coming and coming. A few picked a fight with other birds. They are coming up with worms and other crawly things. I can see their beaks and they definitely have something in them. Maybe they are preparing for parenthood. I think that I see the females, so maybe this is some kind of fertility rite. I have never witnessed this kind of behavior before, it's like a side bar to a Hitchcock  movie.I'm thinking of spreading paper or even a tarp over the area in the evening. My DiL suggested a fake owl or snake. I'm going to check with the garden shop for an owl. Maybe I need a vulture.
