I had to laugh to myself about the kids reaction to our family meal. Every so often, i do bagels and lox. All you can eat , lox. It's amazing how excited they get about bagels and lox. What I find amusing is directed to myself.
I can plan a menu., think about it all week. Shop and prep ahead of time so that all of the separate components come together to serve a really thoughtful
meal. Everyone digs in whole heartily, I know it's good. I spend an hour after dinner, cleaning up, putting away ,wrapping leftovers. I serve bagels and lox,,with little prep, hardly any clean up.. and they get just as excited.. if not more. What is it about
bagels and lox. Is it comfort food? Is it tradition? Is it because it comes under casual, no silver ware , except maybe a knife to spread the smear cheese. Maybe because you serve yourself and layer the cream cheese, tomato, red onion, Bubbie's pickle and
lox, in whatever order you want on your bagel? I don't know, but whatever it is, everyone is a happy camper.
