ON THE BACK BURNER

After complaining about the intense heat, I have to say that I woke this morning , cold. Down to 70 with a low in the 50 's. Much more manageable. Still dry and my green grass is now yellow. It's not dead, I've been told, just dry. I watered for 40 minutes and it did green up some. I want to mow, but was told to hold off . I miss my mowing .My veggies are hanging in. The arugula was served at our Sunday meal, so that is all used up. My onions are ready. I pulled one up and it really is an onion at the other end of the green tops. My first onion. I decided to plant strawberries for next season. But I will need a net to keep the birds away. My DiL and son have a beautiful cherry tree, but the birds get all of the fruit. My DiL has bushes of raspberries. I am not a fan of them, but I ate one and it is was really good. If everything is better with butter, it is also true that everything is better, right out of the ground.
