ON THE BACK BURNER

We have an active Robin's nest in a really inconvenient place. Right  on top of a blooming rose trellis. It must be very hard to be a parent of Robin eggs and then parents of at least one baby. One morning my DiL found a scrawny, featherless, skeleton looking baby bird right under the nest. It either fell out, was pushed out or a  bird of prey got to it.Eagles are recurring sightings around here. My son and DiL got a shovel and lifted the baby back in to the nest. Everything seems to be going smoothly and no more babies seemed to have fallen out of the  nest. The parent birds are extraordinarily busy getting worms, they work all day and into dusk, worming. My watering the new grass , I think, makes it a little easier for them to find the worms. They never stop. We can now see a top of a baby bird peeking over the nest, but we can't see how many are in there.   But,I have a bone to pick with one of the parents, or a relative of their's. I planted 3 strawberry plants and I have been watching in anticipation for the few that I have to ripen .Today, one of the adult Robin's helped himself to my first ripe strawberry. I was in disbelieve. I was watering my veggies and that bird just did a low fly over and took my strawberry. Talk about brazen!
