ON THE BACK BURNER

How can it go from a perfect day to wake up to a rainy, grey, not very pleasant day. I guess it can happen any where, but much more often here in the Pacific NorthWest. I remind myself that is why it is so lush and green here. Even with the rain fall,it is dry . If you stick your finger in the ground, after the first millimeter of dampness, it is dry. I have no idea where all of that rainfall goes. Dixie and I managed to do our long walk to the lagoon. And , more importantly, made it home before it started to rain again. Total time for our down hill and then back, uphilling it, took almost an hour. Dixie gets  really excited when we come to our street and I tell her to let's go home. I did not turn on the heat at all today, so that is very promising. At least I can not water my grass and my garden for one day. It takes an hour for me to water the grass, moving the sprinkler every 20 minute. The veggie garden gets personal time, with me hosing every plant for just a few minutes. My wildflower plantings are on their own. They catch what ever hits them . You have to be tough to be wild here.
