ON THE BACK BURNER

Today was family dinner. The sun never came out  , but with my puffer jacket and a hat, I was warm enough. Because we don't have to sit 6 feet away from each other, we pulled our cafe tables into a circle and had a more intimate dinner. Next week, we may try a long single table instead of our round little tables. I almost had ,what I described as a white meal. That is when there is no contrast on the plate.Every now and then, that just happens. Tonight ,I had Scampi, mac and cheese, Cole slaw and fresh pineapple. I quick grated some red cabbage into the Cole slaw, to get some color going. I don't think any one cared about the food color, except me. Today was a good day to sow my mixed wild flowers. It didn't rain, but it was very grey and dull looking. I dug a shallow trench and dropped 2 packages of mixed seeds into it. I am an optimist about flowers coming up. My grandson had a few nasturtium seed left in a packet . I planted them around a small elm tree that is in a container. Unbelievably, some are sprouting . So far , so good.
