ON THE BACK BURNER

It rained from 10 o'clock at night until about 10:30 the next day. My radishes are intact, but I think the pea shoots are now floaters. Once it stopped raining, the sky turned blue , the sun came out and it was as if it never poured. Since my grandsons fiancé left for her position in Alaska, there was no one to pick up their Challah. Last week, he came by after work which was 10 pm - ish. I had left the challah in a wooden food storage box that my son made for me to put hardy veggies in because I run out of fridge space. It's too warm to use it for food now, so it catches anything that I don't want to bring in the house, like a trowel , or a book bag. Perfect for a loaf of challah that I want to keep safe from deer. I didn't  even hear him come by,  but the challah was gone in the morning. This Shabbat, I told him that I would bring it to his new apartment. We made a deal. I would bring him the challah, put it in his bread box that he left by his door and in return , he would put a treat in the box for me. My treat was two mini key lime pies and some whipped cream for a topping. I got the best of the arrangement. Yum.
