ON THE BACK BURNER

I have radishes. At least, I have little shoots and if I am lucky, there will be radishes at the ends of them. I can see some onion shoots coming up, too. So far, nothing else is showing signs of being alive. It's only been a week, so I guess that is OK. At my deck, I have herbs in containers ,but they were starters from the garden shop, so I can't take credit for their success. My tomatoes are a little wimpy looking, but I am hopeful that they will produce. We had our family meal tonight. We are missing one person,my grandson's fiancé, who is now in Alaska at her seasonal management job.   It was another milestone day for me. I got a hug from my grandson. Now, everyone in my bubble has been vaccinated and the prescribed number of days has passed so we can be together , mask free .I know and am mindful that many of my friends are still waiting to visit and get that hug from their kids and grandkids. It will happen  and it will be special. It's OK to cry.
