I am still eating Matzohs. It's two weeks after Passover, but I have a half box of Matzoh to eat. I was planning to make that wonderful ,matzoh brickle with the too much butter, nuts and chocolate chips. The recipe may have
been around for awhile, but, just like the memory of where you were when a monumental event occurred, I can still visualize where I was when I pulled the first batch out of my oven. We had moved from a registered
landmark building, The Paddington , to another landmark building, The Aquatania. The Aquatania ,supposedly was temporary quarters for Charlie Chaplin and Gloria Swanson,( so we were told) ,when Chicago had a thriving movie industry. Our apartment had a huge closet with another closet within it.This one had a lock , which we assumed was to lock up fur coats. This apartment is where I made
my first brickle. For some reason, which I don't even understand, I am not a fan of chocolate chip cookies. Love the dough, but not the finished product. But melted chocolate chips on matzoh, now that is a treat.
