ON THE BACK BURNER

No matter what you say in public, even if the public is your family, a diagnosis of melanoma puts negative thoughts in your head. “What ifs “ ,come up a lot in your mind set. Even though I said that I thought everything would be fine, I took some measures ,“ just in case”. I bought a house coat. The style hasn’t changed since my Mother wore these things when I was a kid. Mine was described as being calf length. It was floor length on me. Then I bought some lounging pj’s. “Just in case “  I had to stay around the house for more than a few days. I went to the grocery and bought frozen one serving meals. I haven’t bought frozen dinners since I use to get Swansons chicken pot pies for the kids. That was their treat dinner when Bob and I left them so that we could go to a restaurant for our dinner. To think that I cooked almost every meal for them and a TV pot pie was their idea of a treat! So  now, with good news and a sigh of relief, I have a brand new house coat that I don’t need, a nice pair of pj’s, purchased not from Goodwill ,but brand new, and a small collection of frozen TV dinners. I wonder if my kids here in PT still like chicken pot pies. I have a few in the freezer.
