ON THE BACK BURNER

“It’s never too late, that is the most optimistic statement a mortal can make.”That was  the opening to my B’nai Mitzvah speech that I gave , maybe, forty years ago. Well, I changed it now, to, buying a lipstick yesterday at the grocery store was the most optimistic thing that I can do. That might imply that maybe some day soon, in a year or two, I can go out without a face mask and show off my new lipstick. I didn’t bring a lipstick with me when I originally came in June, 2020. I actually ,haven’t worn lipstick since at least January,2020.  When I went home for these three days ,I did look at my stash of lipsticks, but wasn’t interested . Wearing a face mask sorta cuts down on even wanting to wear lipstick. But ,while  I was home ,I went to the pharmacy and I indulged myself and bought a lipstick, plus a bunch of cosmetics. That’s what happens when you watch too much YouTube. I’ve worked my way past how to make certain dishes, challah, working with a dog who suffers with separation anxiety, embroidery stitches,to makeup for women over 50,60,70. So far ,I haven’t found  a series on over 80’s. Remember, it’s never too late.. for anything that makes you happy and the new lipstick is meant to give me some hope that this pandemic will soon let us all get out and about again.  With lipstick, of course.
