ON THE BACK BURNER

I was just reminiscing with my Israeli daughter of the last time that I sat in a restaurant and ate . It was a bakery cafe in Jerusalem. It was raining hard, we were soaked. The place was packed. Her upstairs neighbor was at the table behind us. I don’t remember what we ordered, but whatever it was, I am sure it was wonderful. That was January, 2020. I had no idea that that would be my last dining  out for months. And maybe years. Just down that very steep hill from me is the lagoon that I walk Dixie a couple of times a week. A lot of people use the foot path. There must be good bird watching also because a lot of walkers have binoculars around their necks and cameras. I can sit in my trailer, which is right up to the woods, and watch birds just on the other side of my window. It is something that I never get tired of. Some of the birds are as small as a leaf. The larger ones don’t seem to hang out with the smaller birds. I would put a feeder out for them,  but rats are a problem and I don’t want to encourage them with dropped bird seed. I am not even sure if rats like bird seed. There use to be a neighborhood cat, but I haven’ t seen it in awhile. I read some place that trailers have a lot of problems with mice and rats because there are a lot of openings in their design. = I don’t think Dixie would be much help if she saw a mouse. She can’t even see the deer that follow us on our morning walk.
