ON THE BACK BURNER

I finally got tired of Netflix,  and Amazon Prime , so I went to You Tube and travel shows. Since driving cross country would leave me with 2 cars in Venice, I am looking at the train. Cross country on AmTrac sounds good to me. Bob and I always enjoyed train travel. I use to take the kids on the “City of New Orleans” from Chicago to New Orleans and the train to New York, whose name I forget. That was when we only had three. Kids. Our youngest had to wait until  middle school  to take a train trip. And that was to N.O. The day we left N.O. to get back to Chicago had rain that was coming down horizontally. We managed to pick up Popeyes fried chicken and a couple of orders of dirty rice, that we feasted on ,riding couch . The trip took about 8  hours longer than expected because some of the tracks were flooded. It was still fun.  Chicago  is a hub, so we were able to get to New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Denver and Seattle by train. I checked recently about fares and it is cheaper to fly . But where’s the fun in that.
