ON THE BACK BURNER

It is so dark out that I feel that I should be getting ready for bed. However, it is only 5:30. I wake up in the dark, it is grey and greyer all day and then it is night. On the other hand, when the sun is shinning and the sky is blue, it is fantastic. I could see the Cascade  mountains today, and get ready for this, there was fresh snow on the ridges. We went car looking today. Took the ferry to Wildbey Island, drove through beautiful scenery , found the address... the car was in great shape, only my feet didn’t reach the peddles and pushed to where my chest was resting on the steering wheel didn’t seem comfortable or safe. So back onto the ferry and home again, home again. Last year at this very same time, I was about to come to Port Townsend to have Thanksgiving with some of my kids and grandchildren. What a difference a year makes. We decided that this sheltering is a little like being in a Federal incarceration program. All the comforts that you can get while serving a sentence and still not being home. i did have time to paint one wall of my bedroom. It looks pretty good. Tomorrow will be time enough for the other wall. I don’t want to rush these projects. I seems that I have plenty of sheltering time ahead of me.
