ON THE BACK BURNER

The day started with bagels and lox and ended with English Muffins. Bagels by grandson, english muffins by me. this is all part of celebrating my son’s birthday. So far, it has been a 4 day celebration and it will go on one more day when my Grandson, my son’s nephew makes creme filled Eclairs . It isn’t even a milestone birthday. It is just because we are all sheltering in one place and that is enough to celebrate.  I made 2 loaves of bread plus  a dozen English muffins today. I never realized that a loaf of home made bread only makes 7 sandwiches. One day, I said that I would make my son sandwiches for work since everything is closed and before I knew it , I am also making sandwiches for my Grandson. It’s a labor of love and they do appreciate it. I stopped buying commercial bread because it is $5 bucks a loaf for organic ingredients bread. You never know what I will put into my bread dough. As long as it bakes into a semblance of a loaf of bread, I am happy. Today was Dixie’s long workout day. Twice a week we go down the hill,(easy) to the lagoon and nature preserve and walk around the field . Then we do the up the hill part( really hard). I huff and puff and sweat and Dixie just keeps on trucking. I wish that she would stop to smell the grass or something so that I can catch my breathe.
