ON THE BACK BURNER

I may have said this before but I have been fascinated with a series on NetFlex , called  “travels by Narrowboats “. I am into the third series and I want to do this. It would be like watching paint dry for some people. The boat , which travels down the canal systems in England, has a top speed of 9 miles an hour. The country side can be beautiful, the aqueduct systems from Roman days and the bridges and locks are masterful designs. It would be a history lesson besides the experience of chugging down a narrow canal.  We had our Saturday breakfast ,  now in two gazebo’s ,plus two propane heaters. No complaints about being cold. Reality is that none of us complained,  but the heat adds another dimension to our gathering. We talked about a pot luck for Thanksgiving. We can’t give up the turkey, so we will have to see where this goes. We use to grill our turkey at our cottage. My  stove wasn’t large enough for a bird. In Israel, I shopped for a turkey , when I was there at Thanksgiving one year. I had to being it back to the store because my daughters oven wasn’t large enough for the monster that I bought. The butcher had a few chosen words in Hebrew for me, but I couldn’t understand what he was saying, so what the heck.
