ON THE BACK BURNER

I’m catching on to the weather pattern here. It starts raining, hard, around 2:30 AM. I know because the rain on the roof wakes me up. There is a lull of about 30 minutes near 6:45 and I can drag Dixie out for her walk. At 11 AM,the sun comes out and it is a beautiful day. I know the drill now and I can live with this. This afternoon ,my son took Dixie and me for a walk. He does short cuts . I don’t even know if I could find them again. We had to take a set of stairs to get from the lower elevation to the street. Dixie didn’t know stairs. She had to be picked up. On the return walk, she managed 3 steps going up and then didn’t know what to do when all four legs were on the same step. I am introducing Dixie to long walks. She did 1 and 1/2 miles today, came home and hasn’t moved much since then. I am preparing her for her flight back to Florida. We are taking the “midnight special” flight.I plan on taking  her on a long walk before we leave, give her the calming meds and here’s fingers crossed that she sleeps most of the 5 hour flight. Imagine a toddler, sitting next to you on a plane, screaming ,having a major tantrum, out of control, for 5 hours. That was Dixie on the flight here. Please let my plan work.
