ON THE BACK BURNER

I have a few things on my mind. For instance: boxes. I love deconstructing boxes. The engineer who designs them to be cost effective and still do the job, is brilliant. I know this because I have ordered a lot of stuff from Amazon and the boxes are a work of art. I break them down for the recycling effort and how the boxes are designed to use the least amount of material, folding on itself, protect the product ,impresses me. that brings me to those rigid plasticy wrappings that I can’t open. Some times, I use a knife, other times, scissors. I have been known to try my teeth. I am now having a problem with those zip bags. I can’t get into the contents, some times. I had one zip bag that had two levels of zips. I finally took a knife and punctured the  bag. I have figured out how to open jars. I have a system that works for me. I pry the top until I hear a pop. Ruthless,  but successful.I don’t use a lot of canned products, but I solved opening them by getting an electric can opener. I felt frivolous buying an electric opener for the canned tomatoes, but it was that or throwing the can against a brick wall to puncture it and dribble out the tomatoes.I have a bit of a problem with those things on pop cans. They don’t work that easily for me. I end up putting the handle of a wooden spoon in the ring and pulling back. They seem dangerous to me.  I don’t have a problem opening a wine bottle.
