ON THE BACK BURNER

I could actually see the Cascade Mountains this morning. It has been awhile since it was this clear. This has been a troublesome year and I am glad that it is over. I can think of a few things that could happen that would make it worse, but I am trying to stay optimistic. The sky is blue. The sun is out. The temperature mild. Dixie is showing  signs of adjusting to her carry-on travel case. She went into it voluntarily and let me carry her around in it . That is progress. I read some where that it takes months for a rescue dog to adjust to the new family and for their personality to come out. Dixie is ahead of the curve.  I’ve had her four months and she now barks at danger... like my son coming to the door. She has had the zoomies a few times. That surprises her so much that she doesn’t then know what to do. Zoomies, for people without dogs, is when the dog runs around the house ,running into walls, slipping on the hard wood floors and just being consumed with energy and happiness.

She then gets into play dog stance which is butt up and front down. I think she has been smiling lately, too. That makes me happy, too.
