ON THE BACK BURNER

I am discovering that once you plant a garden, even after laying a lot of mulch over cardboard, weeds can make it through .Weeds are tough .Every day, I pull these little weeds that pop through everything that is on top of them. I don’t mind the weeding. Getting down is easy. Getting up .. very ungraceful, even undignified. I can do squats without a problem, but getting up from the ground, is a one , two, three movement. At least I can get up. The weather here is nuts. A few miles away, they are experiencing high temperatures. Here  we are in what is called a rain shadow. We get less rain and I think in winter, they are warmer. Port Townsend gets 156 days of sun, 2 inches of snow and I think no ice.Today was an example of what to experience when it comes to the weather. Two days ago, it was too hot, even for me. I had to put Dixie in the shower to cool her down. Today, back to hat, undershirt, long sleeve shirt, flannel shirt and hat. I looked up some information about Port townsend. It has 89% Caucasians,3% African Americans, 0.3 % American Indians.18 police persons and the community is considered conservative. I do see mostly Warren,Sanders and Biden bumper stickers. The population is 9,704. With so many Uchitelle’s living here right now, that number may be increased.
