ON THE BACK BURNER

I need to remember right now, to be in the moment, present. It is a beautiful morning. I planted the grass  , the sprinkler is set just right and the birds are having a Thanksgiving feast. They love the sprinkler. I see them flying through the shower. It’s like they are taking turns, teasing who will go first. Then they eat... grass seed. The morning is quiet ,sunny, warm breeze. I think that this may be the best day yet. I hear that we are going into their dry season. I don’t mind setting up the sprinkler every day and deep watering the fruit trees. And speaking of fruit trees... The garden center runs this gimmick  , for every $10 that you spend you get a Willi Buck of $1. We have been saving all summer to get a fruit tree. We accumulated over $80 in Willi Bucks.. ( my daughter in law is a landscaper and she donated some of  her Bucks),and when we went tree shopping, the fruit trees were all gone. Now we have to decide how to spend our Willi  Bucks.  Because I get cold, I leave our family Shabbat dinner before the kids do. I leave out the Challah and the wine. For some mysterious reason, it’s all gone in the morning when I check to see what still needs to be cleaned up. There is an empty wine bottle  and an empty bread dish. Very mysterious.
