ON THE BACK BURNER

Today, I moved a hill. My project is to landscape and make attractive the area around the elephant, Ella Faye. I bought some plantings that are deer proof and made a plan in my head where everything would go. Then I thought that a path around the elephant would be nice. Flowers would bank the path and would meet up with a narrow walk that leads from my son’s work shop and studio, to his house. My Grandson is here ,working from Port Townsend for his company that is based in DC,and he is using the loft  of the studio as his office. This has nothing to do with hill, just background info. I thought that the drop off from the hill was too steep for my walk way, so I decided to not level it, but make the slope much less steep. That meant a shovel, a hammer to break up some of the harder dirt ,a rake and later a sledge hammer. I ended up not needing the sledge hammer. I also needed my grandson to do a little digging for me.I just wasn’t strong enough to get the shovel to bite into the ground. I had a wheelbarrow full of weeds to get taken away. It just happened that my son was walking by to go to his workshop and he graciously took the weeds away. The path will be covered in either stepping stones or mulch, to be determined later. ButElla Faye should be happy,it’s looking pretty good. Tomorrow , I’ll work on it again and maybe finish the plantings.    I need a coffee break.

Leona, did you move up there ? Sounds like you did. Wouldn’t blame you one bit for moving if you did. Would be a great idea and fun ! Ginnie
