ON THE BACK BURNER

It happened. I had heard that it would rain today. What I didn’t hear is that it would rain for 12 hours. I decided that there isn’t a lot to do in  a trailer that has about 300 sq.ft.I did enjoy reading my book that is a best seller for 2019. I question that decision. The book is interesting, but I must be missing some thing here. best seller seems excessive praise. If I put it down right now, I wouldn’t miss it. My usual policy is that if I don’t like a book, stop reading it. I am not the kind of person who will plow through a book just because I borrowed  it or it is a book club selection. I do have books on my Kindle, but on a rainy day, I want a book that I can hold in my hands. It’s a warm , fuzzy, comfort thing. This all day rain blew my schedule. And Dixie’s . She refuses to cross the threshold when it is raining. I picked her up, carried her to the road and then put her down. I knew that she would then make a run back to the house. That brief outing was the last time that I got her out until the rain stopped for good. Long day for her. I thought about making oatmeal cookies. Had flour, sugar, eggs ,oatmeal, but not the ingredients that make them a favorite cookie... raisins and nuts. Now I have to add that to my shopping list.I will add that to my short list of chop sticks and soy sauce. Marmalade is very tasty if it is very thickly spread. I think that is how AAMilne’s poem goes in “Now We are Six.” That marmalade hits the sweet spot until I add more items to my shopping list. 6 more days of quarantine. So far , so good.
