Some where in my 13 lb. mixed breed terrier ,scruffy looking she dog, is an animal that has generations of hunter in her DNA. Dixie Cup saw her first deer. She knew what
to do. Stop, sniff, pose, charge. If she hadn’t been on leash, she would have chased that deer until one of them called the game over. And it may have been the deer. I did notice that since our first walk here in hilly Port Townsend, she has no trouble doing
uphills. It seemed to make no difference to her if we were going up or down or walking on level road. She has a lot of stamina.I didn’t appreciate this ability while we were in Florida. I took her
for short walks because I thought that was all she could handle. I don’t know how much she can do,but it seems a lot more than I gave her credit for. Now I am eyeing the walk down the hill to the
path that takes us to the sound. I said that I was waiting for her to get acclimated to the hill so she can make it back. In reality, I think that I was talking about me.
