ON THE BACK BURNER

There is something different about the lush greenness here in the Pacific North West. I decided that it must be a rain forest phenomena . Everything is so fresh, both in smell and sight. Last year before I left Port  Townsend, my son spread clover and rye seeds ever where in his back yard. The clover  has beautiful red flowers and the plant grows about 6 inches high. The rye is higher, and  different green. The yard looks like a wild unkept landscape until you stop and see the red of the clover and then the lighter green of the rye above that. To make it more interesting, he then mowed different paths through the growth. Wild but with a purpose. Later in the season, I will do my favorite  job of taking the power mower and cutting it all down to have a lawn. There is definitely a plan here. Dixie is in puppy heaven. She has taken to the freedom of a deck and a yard. I’m happy for her. I took her on her first challenging walk, where we walked down hill and then had to get back to my pod. She did it without a problem. However, she is  comatose on the deck right now, but she is pleased with herself.

I just checked what time sunset is here, so I can light Shabbat candles...9 :10 pm. I go to bed at 10. I wonder if they make instant candles .
