ON THE BACK BURNER

I have no reason to venture out. But ,I have some little things that I need to do. I have 20 nurses scrub hats to mail and I don’t  want to go to the post office to mail them. I am going to try an experiment. I will leave them in my mail box, with the address that I need to have them mailed to , with money and ask the post person if she or he will take care of the mailing for me. I am betting that my person will do this for me. We use to have a wonderful mail man. He reminded me of Incabad Crane. Tall and lanky. Actually, that was the mental picture that I carried of Incabad. Our Venice postman would carry my mail to the door if he thought we were waiting for a special mailing. He hand delivered small boxes that came through the USP. He retired and I haven’t made a connection yet with our new mail person.  We had a real character of a mail lady in Evanston. She taught  us well. If we didn’t shovel our steps, she didn’t deliver the mail. We learned fast. I don’t know if people still read Dagwood in the comics, but the postman in the comic strip was based on the mailman that Bob had when growing up. I guess everyone has a mailman story. Or wishes that they did.
