ON THE BACK BURNER

Where has a ukulele been all of my life. I am working diligently on my ukulele. I go on YouTube and scroll through beginner ukulele lessons. I play around for about an hour, when I look at the clock and say that I can’t do this all day. So I stop , because now that I think about it, my finger tips are beginning to hurt from the strings. But I still sit. I watch the birds.  A Blue Jay and something that looks  like a sparrow, and a pilated woodpecker seem to be friends. That woodpecker is usually close behind the Jay. I wonder if they have some kind of a symbiotic relationship. The  sparrow just flits around. Doesn’t seem to have a plan. Sometimes a pack of egrets are pecking around. I haven’t seen any Sand Hill Cranes in awhile, but I hear them. The golf course caretaker comes occasionally with his black Lab to scare the birds away. I think that the Lab is a reluctant participant in his job description. He seems so  much happier when riding in the golf cart.
