Day 5 or Day 7, depending which way I count . Counting down or counting up. My project for this day was to kill a plant that started out as a house plant and now has a
trunk 4 inches thick. And has grown to be 6 feet tall and has also burst its pot and started to grow into the concrete on the patio. i have been sawing it down, over the last year. I gave a neighbor a cutting
and they have a sizable growth now too. It was a cutting from my sisters pencil plant. At least that is what we called it. I digress. What happened is that the plant has a white milky sap and that gets all over you, the saw,the clippers, the concrete . I took a shower afterwards, but some of that sap must have stayed with me. And not thinking, I rubbed my eye.Ouch, a lot. i have been rinsing it and it beginning
to stop burning. If this was normal times, I would have gone to the ER for this, but I am not leaving my self imposed isolation. PS to this pencil plant.
I looked it up on Dr. Google and it is a lethal plant. The sap doesn’t wash off with soap and water. The sap can cause a reaction if you are allergic to latex, it can cause blindness if it gets in your eyes and it should not be sold by garden nurseries.
Potent stuff. I am one lucky dude that I have no repercussions from that. It’s either me or the plant... and the plant is going.
