ON THE BACK BURNER

Sitting at the Jet Blue gate waiting for my final lap. El Al has a lot going for it, but then ,the other side pops up. I was sitting at the gate and without any notice, either in Hebrew or English, everyone started lining up. I was told by a Grandson to go and say that I needed extra time settling in, so there would be less of a jam as I went to my seat. A daughter told me to act my age! I just couldn’t ask to be let  on first, so I stood in line. In a minute an attendant came up to me and “ you come”. I did. I went straight to my aisle seat. That was cool. When we were selecting my seat, I choose to just get the regular menu. Wrong choice.  I was served a cold sandwich and a cold bread log with something inside and a hard, cold brownie like cake and water. Period, nothing else. No soda, no juices, no pay extras. Period. Morning came and so did breakfast. The same bread log that I rejected the night before and

water. I asked for coffee. The male attendant said  “you drink water’. So I did.But I got here safely and that is all that mattered. I found my way through customs, easy peasy. No delay , except I had to ask one of the Yeshiva kids to help me with the electronic customs. I was putting my passport in the wrong slot. It pays to read directions. I took a tram ride to my gate in another terminal. That only took two tries. But in the end I went from Terminal 5 to Terminal 4. I was able to get my luggage from one point to another without a hassle. Yeah me.I had a nice conversation with the lady behind me who was then flying to Seattle. So we talked about Port Townsend. In the Tampa waiting stage, I met a nice Jewish lady from S. Carolina , who has a daughter in Jerusalem. She did most of the talking but that was fun. I gave her my card. Now I am on the last leg of my journey. I have had an interesting adventure. Only regret is that I waited until I was 85 to have this fun stuff happen to me..
