ON THE BACK BURNER

Could be Day 8

This was the last full day of camp and the different managers of different warehouses had us scrambling. They needed to get a lot of work done by the  volunteers before we were all sent home and before it might rain..These managers are going to miss us. Now they will have to rely on the kid soldiers, if they can take their cell phones away from them.We work hard, but everyone helps and even a heavy medical case, which weighs a lot ,is helped when two people fill it together and then move it onto a pallet. I made another garbage run. This time I accompanied the fork lift which had a tremendous load of recycles and trash. My job was to throw the boxes as far into the bin as I could. I was a failure. They kept coming  back at me. At least we all got a laugh over my inability to throw.

Tonight we had a very moving program. We discussed three individuals who were granted “Righteous among the Nations”. Our Madrichot( leader)was the granddaughter-of a women , who as a young  girl, was saved by a Christian family in Holland. I shared Pieter’s story with the group and told how he visits the schools in our area. They were appreciative of his efforts.

Those of us leaving got a certificate and a little Sar El pin. It was a very nice evening.Tomorrow we leave here at 9am and then I will be on the grid again!
