I am sitting around waiting for a repair man. This means that I am missing something that I wanted to do. I am not using my time wisely. instead, I keep looking at the clock, which seems to be stuck. I am finishing a book. That was positive. Especially since I wanted to return it to the lender. There is quite a responsibility when you are lent a book. You can’t dog ear the place where you stopped. You can’t put your
coffee cup on top of the cover.You can’t use a blank space to write a note. I feel the same responsibility for a library book, but borrowing from a friend seems to be putting more pressure on me. Bob used
to put pieces of torn newspaper as a book marker. I have a drawer full of gifted book markers. They are a nice reminder of trips that friends took and remembered us .I still like dog ears for books that belong to me. To all librarians that I know, I promise
to be respectful of public library books and to return them in a timely manner.
