ON THE BACK BURNER

I picked up a friend and we went to Selby Botanic gardens today .The misty, grey day just made the color of the blooming plants POP. I like to linger over the plants and touch the leaves. I do this when no one is looking. They have some bonsai specimens and the  plaques stating that the plant has been a Bonsai in training for  .....and the year. I have been in training since 1934. Some of the tiny limbs on the Bonsai trees have wire wrapped around them to force them into shape. i know a number of people who have wires in them , just to keep them mobile. We sat and watched the koi swim around. They looked well fed. I don’t think that they have any predators in that serene environment. My favorite section of the gardens were temporarily closed , the Orchids. Since I had to cut my visit short to get to the dermatologist, a Florida ritual, I have to make time to go back and linger longer.I need to study those Banyan trees. We are so lucky to have this beautiful, peaceful garden, almost in our back yard. Thank you Mrs Shelby.
