ON THE BACK BURNER

I have a couple of “ how come’s”. My first how come is why hasn’t a dog ever followed me home. That is on my bucket list. I have always wanted a dog to follow me home, or at the very least, let me find a dog in a parking lot. I am a easy mark. I do everything that a responsible dog owner does. I give them medical care, the right food, exercise, love, socialization, summer trips, obedience school. A dog would be smart to follow me home. I will keep this on my list. I still have time.

Then here is another how come. I have a dog jump seat that a friend bought for me for  noodle. He took his last long drive in it. Now Teddy is enjoying it. Teddy loves it.Teddy sits in the front seat, with a safety belt holding his seat in place and a strap that attaches to his collar, keeping him in the seat. When I put him in the seat, he squiggles around in it like he is visiting an old friend.   BUT .. after a few minutes, he gets squirmy.he  looks out of the window. He tries to get to me, but can’t because or the strap. He whines some. He settles down and relaxes. Until he does everything all over again. Last night I had a front seat passenger in the car .It was an older woman, which is all relative when you say older person to someone who is 85. Anyway, I couldn’t ask her to sit in the back while Teddy sat in the front seat. I moved his seat to the back seat. He was quiet the whole ride.  Not  a peep. So how come he was so quiet in the back. Why didn’t he tell me. I think that I am on to something here.
