ON THE BACK BURNER

Have I reached a  turning point with Teddy ? I went away from the house for 11/2 hours and when I came back, he was quiet and appropriately glad to see me. All I had to do to get him to this state was give him 2 CBD’s, put a special dog  collar on him that emits something to keep him calm, a double dose of his prescription sedative , take him for a 11/2 mile walk and bring him with me when I drove to do on an errand  at office depot .Easy. Well meaning friends tell me their success stories about putting their dog in a crate. Noodle loved his crate. Teddy can not be put in one. His anxiety level reaches a medically dangerous level when he is in one. I don’t know his history, but I do know that he was housed in a crate for 4 months before I adopted him. When I asked if he was house trained, I was told that they didn’t know because he was never out of the crate, not  even to relieve himself. I am his pack leader and he is working hard to make me pleased with him. With a few little hick ups, he is on the right track. Oh well, I was overly optimistic. My neighbor just came home and told me that Teddy did bark, then quiet himself and then bark again. Baby steps.
