ON THE BACK BURNER

Many years ago, Bob and I and our kids spent the holidays with Bob’s parents on long Island. Christmas eve Bob and I went into NY to see some play, the name escapes me. Grandma and Grandpa were baby sitting. We caught the late train back to his parents. it was a scene from a painting. Light snow was falling, the street lights twinkled and there were no cars on the road. It was dream like. Hollywood couldn’t have done it better. We decided walk down the middle of the street, shouting  out Merry Christmas Santa , hoping some kid would hear us as we walked home and look out of their window. As far  as I know, no one looked,  but I so vividly remember walking with Bob in that beautiful winter scene. it’s a nice memory.
