If you just sit quietly and watch a tree or several trees, you can see birds fluttering around. I discovered this while looking out of my Mom Pod side window, in PortTownsend. There , the trees are
bare , but with some white berries. Sitting inside, looking out, I waited and some very small birds came by. Then some more. I could watch them scrounging for berries and whatever else is there. Now back
in Venice, I tried sitting and watching a bushy tree near my slider. I watched for the leaves to move. Then I spotted a blue jay. Then some small non identifiable birds
flew in and out of the tree branches. If I hadn’t sat quietly, I would have missed this. I think that is what it means to stop and smell the roses.This time it was birds. The roses will come
in the spring.
