I have been watching a series on Prime called"Restaurant Nightmares." Chef Gordon Ramsey castigates cooks,, verbally abuses owners, and puts down executive chefs of failing restaurants. in spite of the foul language, his cocky attitude,
I see a man who surprisingly shows compassion, uses psychology and does have a flair for creating menus and dishes. He can't be all bad. The thing that I have learned from being hooked on this show, is that most kitchens are not all that clean. The only commercial
kitchen that I have paid to sit in, is my favorite N.O . restaurant ,Commanders. I got to see the cooks fly around, call out to each other, move dishes around and my reward was eating what ever the chef wanted me to eat. I paid big bucks for this,
which is crazy, because wouldn't I rather sit in a nice clean dining room , being served by an elegant waiter? Why did I think that I wanted the kitchen. Just to say I was seated in the kitchen, I guess. When I am seated in a restaurant, I try not to
accept a table near the door into the kitchen. You can hear all kinds of banging and orders being called out. And if you are not lucky, you can see how messy some of them are. So no more kitchen reservations and no getting put near the kitchen door. I'm in
it for the front of the house.
