ON THE BACK BURNER

I here by swear that I will not, ever, buy shoes at a thrift store. On one occasion, the sole disintegrated and sort of melted onto the floor. That was embarrassing. And I felt that I should look for a broom and dust pan and clean up the leavings. I didn't get the message, yet. About buying used shoes. I have a cheap foot . No foot issues and a common size. The next pair of shoes that did me in were hiking boots that I bought for my trip to Alaska. I figured that I wouldn't be doing a lot of rugged  hiking after my fantastic trip to Alaska, so why spend big bucks for a pair of hiking boots. I found a perfect pair for $6.99 at Good Will here in Venice. Carried them all the way to Alaska. They fit great. The first time that I put them on, the day before I took that extreme over night hike, the sole came away from the shoe. I was ready to just tape the shoe up, but the lodge had LLBean boots for guests and since my foot is easy, I had proper boots for my hike. I could not have done it with duck tape. Ok so I am a slow learner. Tonight I wore a pair of name brand shoes, high end, nice leather top. Looked good. Match my outfit. I just happened to look at my sole when I crossed my legs and the soles were cracked and very near to falling apart. Oh No. I did it again. So I repeat, I will never, ever buy shoes again at a thrift store. what was I thinking. Especially since my father was in the shoe business. Yikes.
