ON THE BACK BURNER

My kids were right. The drive that we worked out was winding and beautiful, as I left Port Townsend. I think that I went through a rain forest. The road ran along side of Olympic National Park and the trees on both sides of the winding narrow road made the drive misty and hazy. I was the only car on the road, even though it was after 9 AM. Noodle and I drove 439 miles today. We made two rest stops. The drive from Port Townsend to The Dalles ( yes, it is TheDalles), was beautiful. I feel as though I should dedicate the drive to a friend who loves road trips.JK. So much land, Rocks, hills, sky, wind, streams, dams, oyster farms, wind generators, colors, more sky. boats. There is no doubt in my mind that some big bang pushed these mountains up and by doing this, created space for bodies of water. The road from PT to The Dalles, was the most spectacular. I am so glad that there were few cars to contend with. I just tried to keep a distance from the car in fromt of me and not let my foot be heavy on the pedal. It is easy to speed on these roads,  But  I wanted  to enjoy the whole experience. So for our first night, we are at a motel, just hanging out. Noodle was a trooper. Never heard a peep out of him, although tomorrow, I will only give him a 1/4 sedative. After that, he might not need any because he will know the drill. Oh yes, there is a rodeo in town. I got a 10 percent discount at the motel, over the senior discount because i was NOT with the rodeo. They must be some wild dudes.
