ON THE BACK BURNER

This is my last full day at this incredible lodge. The guides, kitchen staff, house keepers cooks, are all college degreed and beyond. They want to be off the grid and be outdoors. They are knowledge about the smallest detail of nature. They can spot and name a bird that moves before I can focus on it. Today I went out with a  guide an a few paying guests. At the end of our hike and drive, he pulled the van over and opened up the back... to serve us hot chocolate, tea or coffee. I would never be here if I were not a guest of my grandson. The  daily fee is $600.00 and people usually stay here a week. It was suggested that I tip $60.00 a day. Well worth it for everything that I got in exchange. Tomorrow, we leave around 7am by bus , 90 miles to the entrance of the park. From there we get a ride to the train. Around 7 pm we get to Anchorage. I fly back on Sat. early am. Because there is no cell reception here, I haven't figured out how I will communicate with my car service. Guess I will figure  it out when I get to Anchorage. The first thing that I will do when I get home is flush a toilet. Want to see if I remember how that goes.
