Today was a sit down and stare at the Denali range day. We did a good job of it. This place is so pure that you do not even see a cigarette
butt or a candy wrapper ,on the ground. You do not come here, if you do not want to be here. There is nothing but sky, clouds, trees and mountains. There is no cell phone reception. There is no internet connection, except in their office. There is just nature.
Unspoiled. There is talk about our current administration wanting to emphasize recreation and not conservation. That is not a popular thought here. The people who support this area want to keep it like it is , and I see their point. Other Federal Parks are
being over run by tourist who are not always cognizant of the environment. There are International guests here .You can always tell the French woman. They have a certain style. They look good in jeans.
We have watched the clouds come and
go. I am so fortunate to have seen the mountain peaks. I understand that people have come several times and the mountain is behind a cloud.
We have had several calamities getting here and have heard of others while we are here. The
rock slide for the train, a rain fall in one week that was more than they get in a summer, road washed out, bus turned around because National Park closed, spending an unexpected night in a hotel ,fires that jumped the high way leading to Camp that made
some guests have to be flown in and a personal one for me.... my $6.99 pair of hiking boots that I bought at Good Will lost a sole just before I was about to go on my long hike and over nighter. Lucky for me, the Camp has anything that you need to borrow
in way of clothes. So now I walk around in a pair of LLBean Duck shoes that are perfect. And I am withtwo Grandsons. How can I be so lucky?
