ON THE BACK BURNER

It took us 4 days, but we made it to Denali. And it was well worth it. 20,000ft . of magnificence. It is awesome, humbling, and vast. This mountain range doesn't compare to any other range that I have seen. .60 thousand acres of forest, mountains, rivers, creeks, trees, bushes, birds, animals, fish and humans. We were ready to leave our hotel right outside of the Park, at 8 am. At 9 am, we were told to be ready for a report on road conditions. At 10 o'clock we left with word that the road would possible be opened at 10:30 to select groups, of which we were. We were given the go ahead by the rangers and we drove very carefully. The area that was washed away was so scary for me, that I closed my eyes and slunked down so I couldn't see. It took us until 3:30 to get to our Denali Resort. The staff was waiting to cheer us in and serve a snack that we thought was dinner. My Grandson was there to meet us and introduce us to the staff. Hopefully he said nice things about me because everyone said that they heard so much about me! My cabin is one room, with a great bed, a wash stand and a wood stove. Period. The bathroom and showers are in a nearby building. There is no electricity or running water. Who cares when the view from my bed is the Denali mountain. Right now it has that Aspen glow that I have seen in the Rocky Mountains in the morning. It doesn't get dark here until after 10. They give you those night shades to wear to bed to keep out the sun. My Grandson started the fire for me and I am toasty under my quilt. Hopefully, I don't have to get up during the night to go to the bathroom. I have my slippers and flashlight ready in case. oh ,please ,God.
